I earned my Ph.D. in Physics and Space Sciences from Florida Tech, USA. Currently, I am working as an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Al al-Bayt University, Jordan. The focus of my research is the physics and chemistry of the lower ionosphere, the D region, spanning from about 50 to 90 km altitude. This ionospheric region plays an important role in subionospheric propagation of radio signals in the very low frequency (VLF) band that is widely used for long-range communication. It is also the home of various interesting electrodynamic phenomena such as transient luminous events (TLEs). TLEs are a group of electrical discharge phenomena above thunderstorms, including jets, gigantic jets, sprites, halos, and elves. I study the electron and ion density profiles of this region and their variability due to the underlying thunderstorm and lightning activities.
